Too busy to sift through the web to find the health and beauty news you need to know for this week? Not to worry, we sifted through the headlines and pulled out the interesting ones just for you. Read on to catch up on what you might've missed!
Already feeling jealous of Kate Middleton? We hate to break it to you, but it’s about to get worse. According to a new study out of California, the Duchess’s face is practically perfect (at least part of it, that is). After analyzing photos of women whose noses were altered to different angles, doctors have concluded that the ideal nose is slightly upturned at 106 degrees. It just so happens that the Princess matches this ideal, as do celebs like Scarlett Johansson, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Biel. Thankfully, you can take this information with a small grain of salt, especially if you’re not a young caucasian female. The study only took into consideration white women between the ages of 18 and 25, and doesn’t necessarily have any bearing on men or women of other ethnicities.
You may not have the “perfect” nose, but you can get flawless skin thanks to a new iPhone app from skincare pioneer Dr. Howard Murad. Developed to promote his new acne line to selfie-obsessed teenagers, ClearCam instantly removes blemishes from all over the user’s face. The app also boasts a time-lapse feature, which will show the user what their complexion will look like after using Murad’s skincare for just 72 hours. Not a bad deal, especially since it's free!
In semi WTH-inducing news, there’s a new trend happening with bridesmaids that’s anything butt self-conscious. Women everywhere appear to be posing for wedding photos while lifting up their dresses and showing off their butts. Some of the photos are playfully cheeky (get it?), while others are downright lewd. It may not the be the classiest of trends, but it’s hard to judge them when they look to be having so much fun. These ladies are bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase “Pulling a Pippa Middleton!”
It’s easy to add silly moments to an event like a wedding, but getting ready for a surgery is a completely different thing. Yet, when a woman named Doretta Norris opted for a double mastectomy, she vowed to make the experience unlike any other. Instead of typical pre-surgery preparations, Doretta chose to dance her way to the operating room to the tune of “Gangnam Style.” A video posted on YouTube shows Doretta busting a move down the hallway, while joined with a number of the hospital’s doctors, nurses, and staff. “The hospital staff could have given me medications, wheeled me into the operating room on a stretcher, and that would be that,” Doretta said. “But the staff cared about me, acknowledged my struggle, and helped me overcome a difficult time.”
