Clothing that treats acne

Clothing that treats acne

In a recent post, I wrote about new SunSoul Healthy Skin Systems' clothing with technology that captures the sun's rays and converts it into skin-caring benefits. It sounded impressive--and clearly that SunSoul was onto something big that could be a game-changer in the skin care industry. But I couldn't find any of the studies that were done to show the efficacy of SunSoul's technology.

So after emailing with Tim Brown, founder & president of SunSoul, I now have the studies in hand. And here's the deal...

For Blumod, which is SunSoul's fabric that converts transmitted UV light into a range (think "blue light" therapy) to treat acne, patients in the study wore the therapeutic blue shirt over a 60-day period for a minimum of 2 hours a week:

Average decreases in body acne counts from baseline were 65%. Improvements (image at lower right) of body acne from baseline were noted where most lesions demonstrate a marked reduction in inflammation at the end of the 60 day treatment period. No adverse effects were observed or reported by the patients.

For Yelomod, which targets signs of aging, patients were exposed to a sun simulator whose light was passed through the yellow therapeutic material over an 8-week period for one hour per week:

Overall, the patients reported a 21.5% improvement in their skin appearance, with small but noticeable enhancements in their brown (16.3%) and red (8.4%) discoloration, pore size (3.8%), texture (2.0%) and fine wrinkles (2.0%).

All in all, the results are somewhat impressive when you consider that the actual "treatment time" was for one hour a week over 8 weeks. Heck, I could easily do this for several hours a week now that we've finally got some sunny weather here in the NY-metro area.

The studies themselves certainly contain more of the technical data, and if you're interested in reading them more fully, you can visit sunsoul.com and request them. Thanks Tim for passing them along!

The product is amazing and seems to work really well, what is the main advantage of Sunsoul is that you don’t need to use in internally or apply in on your skin like cream. It lets one enjoy life without feeling like they are going through treatment while the results are amazing. I really like the style too, I would really recommend it to others who are tired of using medications and what to find a cure to treat their acne.:)
