We recently brought Clarins Fix' to your attention as a way to keep summer makeup in place. But there's another little gem that's been making the beauty rounds as the heat kicks in: Model in a Bottle Make Up Setting Spray.
Model in a Bottle's been touted on a number of TV shows such as Oprah, Tyra Banks Show, and Extra--but the real proof is in the pudding, as they say--so have you tried it? Did it work? WiWi: Was it Worth it?
Beauty products that help you look your best wherever--and whenever--you need them are always hot and in demand, especially during summer , when you're most likely thinking about hitting those friendly skies.
Not so friendly to makeup bags in somersault mode, mineral makeup has long been the bane of makeup mavens on-the-go as it tumbles and spews itself allover the place. Oh, right--you remembered to keep that little peel-off cellophane thingy that keeps the powdery mess in its container...not.
I'm thinking today is Botox day. No, I'm not getting it done. I'm yakking about it. Because all the beauty companies seem to be doing so--or at least name-dropping it. And I've noticed lately as I've been cruising the grocery store aisles that a number of brands that would hardly register otherwise have their own version of Botox-in-a-box, right there on the shelf--you don't even need to go high-end anymore with lines like Euoko's Y-Series.
Remember those "I wannabe like Mike" ads, referring to Michael Jordan way-back-when? There ought to be a music video made (a' la Rocky Horror) with every topical product that wants to be like Botox. I guess there's a marketing chart out there that shows sales incrementality when a product's ad copy mentions "Botox"--which would mean people are buying it (in more ways than one).
We've had a number of comments on Hillary's appearance (redone by Fotofix.com--a site like FixMyPhotos.com, which I've posted about), so I thought of her when I was about to try Dremu Airbrush. Airbrushing--the true art of which has been taken over by any wannabe desktop publisher armed with Photoshop--has long been the tool of the fashion and beauty media wizards to create that omnipresent aspirational look. For better or worse.
StriVectin isn't the only contender for the "Better than Botox" title anymore. Euoko, a brand that that claims to "represent the cornerstone of the most innovative, most unique skin treatments," has an anti-aging line--known as the Y Series--containing botanical peptides that combat wrinkles in a similar way to Botox. Hmm. We've been down this path before, no?
Euoko's Y Series line (as the site states)
I have a good friend who lives in the UK and she always seems to be in-the-know on all things fashion, style, beauty--she even got me back onto Dr. Scholl's (the classic ones, remember those?) and I can't tell you how often I get stopped with raves about them. Well, she's also an exec at a top retail chain there (not Selfridges), which could explain things. So I'm always keeping an eye out to see what's cooking across the pond. I saw this in Eve mag's June issue--the top five anti-aging beautifiers on the Selfridges shelves:
1. La Mer Creme de la Mer
As I sit here paying attention to my nails, I realize I haven't shared two of my favorites for getting a classic, clean-looking, light pink, polished but not that look-at-her-and-see-only-her-nails look. Getting the look isn't really that difficult--and you can do it at home. I still go to the nail salon to feel a bit pampered with a pedicure, but I really don't need weekly manicure visits with these two.
For starters...
A recent article from The New York Times, dated 6/12/08, shed some light on a dark subject: undereye circles. A bane for those who have them--whether chronically or temporarily, dark circles tend to take a back seat in many instances to the more popular and no-one-escapes-without-'em fine lines and wrinkles.
Here though, some excerpted items from the NYT article:
Can't believe it's already Friday! Hope you're gearing up for a great weekend--but before you turn off, tune in, and drop out (or at least drop the kids off at tonight's Little League game) check out what was BEAUTYCREDible on Beauty Cred this week...
THE BUZZMAKERS - WHAT'S ON OUR MINDS
Who'd of thought I'd be caught dead out-of-doors with uncorrected bare legs? The shame! I still want to know what you think of that one.
