Emerita is a company that has been making skin products for women since 1978, catering to the women who notice that hormonal changes often bring skin changes as well.
I tried the Microdermabrasion Face Scrub, and I must say I could immediately tell it was effective. I have just had a "real" microdermabrasion, and my first impression was that this felt very similar.
The web site says that the scrub exfoliates while stimulating surface-level cellular renewal, and is pH-balanced, unscented, and without artificial coloring. Who would color a microdermabrasion scrub anyway?
Well, I have tried Plantogen Anti-Aging Cream Cleanser twice. It is an Australian skin care product line sold in spas. It has a very good reputation for being natural. And I also read an article saying that cream cleansers do work because oil somehow dissolves oil.
I've been trying the Olay Definity line of products this week, and I must say I love them. Last night I used the Olay Definity Deep Penetrating Moisturizer, which won a Women's Health Award.
The company touts this product as inspired by high definition technology. Olay Definity Deep Penetrating Foaming Moisturizer helps reverse the appearance of past damage coming from beneath the skin's surface.
That's right. Ok, it's not the kind that will require a doctor to mark up my breasts with dotted lines and things. No anesthesia. No recovery time. True, my results won't be as dramatic or lasting. But I'm getting a Rodial Boob Job and you're coming along with me.

True story. My son, who's braving potty land, calls me from the bathroom. I joyously praise him for his efforts only to find him shaking his head "no". It's then that I realize he has done what he intended to do, but he's done it 180-degrees from where he should have. Literally. If he just turned.... And a little voice inside me says, "does it have to be this difficult? shouldn't it be...simpler than this?"
It's my birthday, and UPS arrived this evening with the most appropriate gift: a package of new skin care products to try from my Beauty Editor.
The first one I'm going to try is Olay Definity Deep Penetrating Foaming Moisturizer. I have to wait eight weeks for its full effects, but if I start tonight...
First impression is that the packaging is impressive. But it took me a while to figure out that I had to open the package from the bottom and slide it out.
It comes out of the package foaming like a mousse. I rubbed it into my hands first, and it vanished immediately.
Watch the clip above to get the backstory on Lindi Skin. It's quite a tale for a skin care line--founded by Lindy Snider (below right, who's dad is owner of the Philly Flyers & Sixers) after she saw the harsh skin effects cancer treatment on friends. And while Lindi Skin is first and foremost a brand formulated to address skin that's been compromised due to side effects from chemotherapy or radiation treatment, it's also one that can help sensitive skin--so I'm trying it out.
Bio-Oil review quick take: The anti-aging benefits of Bio-Oil are not immediate or dramatic enough to use as daily facial care.
I do like the hydrating feel of it though, even on my hands & nails. Need more time to assess its claims for scars, stretch marks & discolorations, and it could also use better packaging - it can be a bit messy.
I'm going to a Derby Day Party tomorrow, and I will be all decked out in a hat with feathers, and a short dress. And that's the problem. I will have to show a little leg, which I rarely do.
Why? Well, I don't love the age spots on my legs, or the dry, sometimes flaky skin. So I am going to try something today. I have but Nude Skincare's Age Defence Moisturizer on my legs, and I am going to see if it make a real difference. I've used it before on my face, and I have seen the clinical trial results that say it improves skin texture by 66%. Let's just see if this is true.
I don't know about you, but now that everyone--literally everyone--has out a mineral makeup line, I've just about hit my saturation point. And if you haven't noticed, they all say the same thing. Here's how the drill goes:
