Boston dermatologist, Dr. Matthew Avram tells NBC news why the new Fraxel Repair laser is a step up for the fractional resurfacing laser technology, although at $4000 for a full face treatment it's not cheap.

"You're going target deeper wrinkles that the previous Fraxel helped somewhat with but couldn't quite penetrate as deeply or effectively," explained Dr. Avram.

Where In The World Is Dr. Brandith Irwin Today?

Seattle dermatologist Dr. Brandith Irwin's book tour continues in Atlanta, with an appearance on Good Day Atlanta to again discuss her book, The Surgery Free Makeover.

The commentary included a recommendation that Thermage is good for "mild to moderate sagging" but if you have a big jowl, "don't waste your money," and the old standby for wrinkles is of course, Botox.

For sun damage and brown spots, Dr. Irwin explains that Fraxel is like "aerating your lawn," in reference to the way Fraxel technology vaporizes and repairs only a fraction of the skin to eliminate lengthy downtime for the patient.

Benefit You Rebel Lite Misses The Glow

Somehow wearing a minimal coverage foundation (ie, tinted moisturizer) just doesn't seem as rebellious as it once did. Nor does seeing David Bowie when "Rebel, Rebel" was big--and for Iman's sake, thankfully Dave's put away the costume. Likewise, wearing a foundation with sunscreen is just common sense.

Dermosonic Cellulite Treatment Isn't Painful, Not Relaxing Either

A medical spa in Syracuse was featured for Dermosonic cellulite treatment on the morning news program called "Bridge Street."

Ashley, co-owner of Ava Belle Day Spa at the Relaxation Zone, demonstrated the Dermosonic, which is a two part treatment. The first part of the treatment uses ultrasound to warm the tissue under the skin, followed by suction, which forces the tissue to move and drain toxins through the lymphatic system.

Ashley says Dermosonic isn't a one time miracle treatment, and that the number of treatments required varies by person. She also says, "Dermosonic isn't painful, but it isn't relaxing."

A "Magic Eraser" For Varicose Veins

Oklahoma City cosmetic physician and vein specialist Dr. Kevin McMullen appeared on the Oklahoma City Fox 25 Morning News to show viewers how foam sclerotherapy works. With a tiny needle, Dr. McMullen injects a medicated solution to the vein and like a "magic eraser," the varicose veins disappear.

After the treatment, the patient's skin looked fantastic immediately. Foam sclerotherapy generally requires just one treatment, although Dr. McMullen warns that the veins do turn red while the sclerosing agent does its work.

Dr. McMullen says foam sclerotherapy has no downtime, and recommends that compression stockings are worn after the treatment.
