Men And Plastic Surgery - Who'd Have Thunk?

male cosmetic surgery If you have a man around you right now, would you ask him a question? Ask him this:

Do you think you would ever have cosmetic surgery?

I asked this question of my husband, and he gave me one of "those looks" - you know the one. While my guy (and maybe yours?) thinks that cosmetic plastic surgery is strictly for women, more and more guys are choosing to have a little work done.

Oprah Readers Agree: Botox Is Worth It

An Oprah Magazine Reader Survey on cosmetic procedures uncovered an interesting stat on Botox:

79% of the O survey respondents who've tried Botox said they would try it again.

and...

79% of RealSelf.com user reviews say Botox was worth it (as of this writing!).

You can't get much more consistency than that.

Close to 80% favorability is a good number to have. But I'm not sure if it's making me head out to my derm's office just yet. How about you?

Young People Using Anti-Aging Treatments

What does it say about our society that many anti-aging treatments are used by women 19-34?  Between 2003 and 2007, the number of women in that age bracket receiving Restylane treatments increased from 23,000 to over 200,000. Botox injections also grew, although not quite so dramatically. Doctors are divided between one faction that think starting these treatments early might be good, because it pushes back the start of aging, and those who think we don't have enough evidence to say whether fifty years of Botox or Restylane shots will still be harmless.

How Much Does Botox Cost? Check The Map

how much does botox cost? find out on realself.com with google mapsBack when I worked for Expedia.com, I spent a lot of time working on delivering great prices to travelers for their vacation.  Our vacation packages deals delivered savings due to the fact each trip component (hotel, air, car) was lumped together into a total price.  This opacity enabled hoteliers to often deeply discount their hotel room rates for package buyers.  And since no one could turn around and call the front desk and ask for the Expedia Vacation Packages hotel rate, hotels loved it as a revenue management tool.  Pricing opacity was good for consumers who got great savings.

My Invitation To A Botox Party

Sometimes when I write this blog, I feel like the old war veteran who has been in combat with this aging process for a very long time. I started using products on my face when I was in my mid-thirties, which turned out to be (fortunately) the right time to do it if you want to have any success. But I didn't have any of the fillers and paralyzers until I was nearly sixty. Quite frankly, I didn't think I needed them, because I had an eye job (at about age 45) and a brow lift (at about age 50) and both of them produced the effect I wanted.
