For Face Lift, Memphis Plastic Surgeon Prefers MACS Lift Or "S-Lift"

According to Germantown plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Wallace, a professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Dept. of Plastic Surgery, minimally invasive procedures are the current trend, and for good reason.

In a Memphis Commercial Appeal report, Dr. Wallace says that less extensive surgery, non-surgical techniques, injectables and lasers that "produce tighter, thicker skin" are among the choices rapidly gaining popularity. But when it comes to an actual facelift, how does one go the minimally invasive route without cutting corners?

Dr. Wallace suggests that one new method of facelift isn't as "advanced" as some have claimed. The deep plane face lift was "used and later dropped" by his practice, due to its unsatisfactory results and long recovery time.

Minimal Cash + Minimal Time = Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Procedure

Miami plastic surgeon Carlos Wolf, MD has outlined some innovative cosmetic surgery ideas for the Miami Herald that fit the current trend - cultivating the virtue of thrift. Minimal vacation time and spending cash usually make major aesthetic improvements like surgery impractical, to say the least.

In his Q&A column, Dr. Wolf says the wrinkle paralyzer and neurotoxin, Botox, is "used off label for virtually any wrinkle." To augment a Botox procedure, many people opt for dermal wrinkle fillers like Restylane, Sculptra, Radiesse, or Juvederm, which increase volume to reduce or erase the appearance of wrinkles and folds.

Green Bay Medical Spa Drowns In Economic Conditions

Analysts say that if your business can survive the current recession, success will probably follow. Escape Medical Spa and Salon in Green Bay, Wisconsin is one business that couldn't pass the test.

The demand for spa services is a luxury, so one might expect the industry to be hit particularly hard in times like this, but some say that just isn't the case. According to the International Spa Association, 47 percent of all spa owners are reporting higher profits than last year.

Reasons for continued stability might include the recent decrease in travel as people seek local outlets to fill their leisure time and the seemingly ever-increasing baby boomer market.

St. Petersburg Surgeon Says "Don't Call Us A MedSpa"

A Florida surgeon and his wife say they hold themselves to a different standard at their Tampa-St. Petersburg medical spa when it comes to providing anti-aging and cosmetic treatments.

Dr. Kevin Hirsch and his wife Linda own AnuYou Personal and Preventative Aesthetics in St. Petersburg. The spa embodies 8 years of the trauma surgeon's 'painstaking' creative process and business savvy. It's not a medical spa. It's an "institute that educates those who enter its doors."

Dr. Hirsch told the St. Petersburg Times, "the primary focus of AnuYou is not these superficial laser hair removal and vein or cellulite reduction treatments. It is actually nutrition, exercise, supplementation and hormone optimization, thereby promoting the management of age and disease. That's what is the difference.''

Could Evolence Last Longer?

A Dallas plastic surgeon recently appeared in an NBC news segment investigating the new collagen-based filler Evolence. The reporter actually quotes the Juvederm campaign (a competing product) when she says in the story that "parentheses don't belong on her face."

Evolence, approved by the FDA earlier this year, is the doctor's chosen method of erasing those "smile lines," the nasolabial folds.

According to Dr. Rohrich, Evolence "stimulates the natural collagen" and the product is replaced over the course of 6-9 months. He says the collagen, which is sourced from real pigs, "looks just like type 1 collagen of humans."

Dr. Rohrich fills Tonya's nasolabial folds immediately and within 20 minutes, her wrinkles are gone and she is free to go about her routine.
