In Hollywood, our favorite male stars hit the red carpets year after year, yet never seem to age.

We asked Dr. Paul Nassif, renowned Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon and anti-aging specialist, to weigh in on how real men can achieve this “ageless” look.

RealSelf: As a doctor who operates in a celebrity-obsessed city where men and women alike want to look like the stars, who are the top "ageless" male celebrities?
In my opinion, the top male celebrities who appear "ageless" are Hugh Jackman, Tom Cruise, Dylan McDermott, John Stamos, Lenny Kravitz and Johnny Depp.

RealSelf: What male celebrity looks are patients requesting the most? Are they saying, "Make my [insert facial feature] look like George Clooney's?
Many patients ask for Jude Law and Brad Pitt's nose, and a jawline like that of Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, or Channing Tatum. George Clooney is an aging celebrity who has features that patients often request. However, it is important to understand that the goal with plastic surgery is to enhance one's own natural features in order to achieve facial harmony. Specific features of a celebrity may not look good on everyone, as we are all unique and have specific needs. All procedures are tailored to the individual to enhance their own natural look.

RealSelf: How do you achieve a rejuvenated (yet natural) look for a man?
With any surgical procedure or filler, less can be more—so a conservative approach suits our male patients well. Males often request filler in the nasolabial folds and the tear trough. It is imperative to choose an experienced physician to perform your injections, as injecting the right amount in the right places is critical to obtain the best result, especially under the eyes. For those ready to take the surgical plunge, a conservative brow lift can look great on a male patient, as to avoid giving him a "surprised" look.

RealSelf: What do men want versus women in the anti-aging arena? For example, do men want to keep their crow's feet to keep themselves a bit "rugged"?
This really depends on the patient. Some male patients do not want to mask the appearance of their wrinkles, and feel that the wrinkles may add to their personality. Patients may also go years without being bothered by fine lines and wrinkles, and decide to treat them later in life. In general, women do tend to have treatments at a younger age, but each case is unique.

RealSelf: What are some things younger men can do now to reduce their need for later cosmetic surgery interventions? Are there any unexpected (or lesser known) things that men need to know?
Wearing sunscreen is a must, as harmful UV rays can accelerate the aging of the skin. Any mineral based, chemical free sun protection that contains zinc and/or titanium dioxide is a great option. Drinking alcohol leads to dehydration, and can wreak havoc on the skin over time if excessive. Minimizing stress is one of many factors that can help slow the aging process, as stress can lead to spikes in cortisol, which can put the body in a catabolic state where the aging process is accelerated. Possibly more subtle, excessive consumption of caffeine may lead to aging. Smoking is another aging culprit that can greatly increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time. In general, there are no shortcuts or secrets here. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, adequate sleep, reduced stress, proper skincare, and protection from the sun will allow one to maintain their best appearance over the years as they age.
