Is the Ped Egg Worth it?

Ok, ok. I know what you're thinking. The PedEgg Footfile? But I'm guessing if you've seen the "As Seen on TV" ads and then walked past the displays of Ped Eggs in the grocery store, drug store, Wal-Mart, Target....everywhere...you, too, have had that moment where you slow down your step and consider, "I'm wonder if it really works"--but then you quickly move on and forego actually buying it for fear someone would actually see you doing so. I know. I've been there.
But I have no shame. I didn't even try to conceal it in the bag the way you would an EPT test or similar. So here's my first impression...
I cautiously put the Ped Egg together per the instructions (one strike against it--I don't like instructions, but these were fairly simple). The file part of the Ped Egg is very similar to the gadget I use to grate parmesean cheese--the newfangled one that shaves the cheese but not your fingertips in the process. That's a good thing. And the file fits neatly into a plastic base that ultimately "catches" the filings (yuck!) from your dry heels.
The Ped Egg instructions alert you to several things: glide the Ped Egg over your heels in a back and forth motion (not side to side); should you see any bleeding, stop filing (really?); if you're a diabetic, use only under advisement of your doctor; etc. I heed all the instructions and begin to swipe the Ped Egg across my heels like a credit card whose magnetic strip can't be read--I just keep swiping...back & forth, back & forth...
Are you sitting down? It works! No kidding--the Ped Egg really worked quite well. I was expecting my heels to be almost grated the way pumice can sometimes leave dry skin. But the Ped Egg leaves a very smooth finish. I almost was able to skip my usual slather-on-the-lotion pedicure ritual, though I didn't.
Ped Egg worked very well. One note--you can't use Ped Egg during or immediately after a shower or bath. In order for the file to make the appropriate contact, your skin needs to be dry. It seems counter-intuitive, but that's how it works.
Was it worth it? I was really quite surprised by the Ped Egg. It gently smoothed my heels and left my skin almost soft enough to skip moisturizer. It's a great little beautifier to keep handy particularly for pedicure season. Just don't be waiting for me to pick up that set of Ginsu knives anytime soon...
