Many pursue hair health regimens to realize their anti-aging quest. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) might be a supplement you can take to improve the luster - that brilliant shine - of your hair.
In a study that tracked 21 men and women with an average age of 53, MSM significantly improved hair brilliance. 55% of all subjects showed improvement; the women participants appeared to experience greater benefits. The study was conducted over the course of six weeks, and participants took 3000 mg. of MSM per day. None of the placebo group experienced any improvement in hair condition.
MSM is an organic sulfur, which may help explain its efficacy. Sulfur is an important building block, needed to form structure in hair at a cellular level. MSM supplementation is believed to give the body the building blocks it needs to grow hair that is lustrous and healthy. Much more research is needed (why is it that all these promising studies never get follow-up?), but the aforementioned study suggests that MSM supplementation could enhance hair's brilliance. Why not give it a try for six weeks?
