Happy Birthday, Madonna! How Plastic Surgery Gave Her a Youthful Face at 53

K. Mathews on 16 Aug 2011 at 3:45pm

Madonna turns 53 today, but if it weren’t for the fact that she’s been in the public eye for 30 years now, you might guess that she’s even younger. After all of these years, how does she still look so fresh-faced and like a virgin? The obvious answer is plastic surgery, but Madonna won’t say, instead stating, “I’m not against plastic surgery – I’m against discussing it.” That’s okay, Madonna, I’d be happy to discuss it for you, as I live to tell. Happy Birthday, you lucky star!

Though Madonna may be best known for her evolving fashion sense, her physical appearance has undergone a number of transformations, as well. Even if she doesn’t look significantly older, it’s no secret that she looks different. Don’t tell me that that face is not the result of some artificial material, Girl.

What do the experts say? Dr. Bruce Katz speculates that Madonna turned to fractional resurfacing lasers to remove her wrinkles and tighten her pores. And while Madonna was on holiday in Brazil, some believe that she received a chin augmentation. Additionally, Dr. John Di Saia spots a lot of facial filler work.

Madonna's plastic surgery

But it’s not just her face that’s frozen, The Mirror reports that her dermatologist Dr. Fredric Brandt has also injected fillers into her hands to make them less vein-y.

Don’t get hung up on the scrutiny, Madonna, your fans are still crazy for you. In fact, you may even be a borderline plastic surgery icon here at RealSelf. When gossip sites alleged that Madonna received a ribbon lift, readers wanted to get it (though the doctors largely warned against it). Others wanted to try the placental face cream (yes, you read that right) she used. Even G1990, fresh off her prom, “want[s] eyes and a nose more like Madonna”.

Though Madonna’s upkeep of her appearance is remarkable, hopefully she won’t alter herself all the way into a beautiful stranger. With a music legacy like her own, it’d be a shame for anyone to ask, “Who’s that girl?”

TRY THIS: How many of Madge's song titles can you find in this post? Leave your answer in the comments.

Ah... I would say that she looks this good because she sold her soul to the devil.

Madonna is going through "menopause".....
Imagine her without plastic surgery and dating a 24 yr. old guy! eek! Repulsive! Her dude would head for the hills!
there are 8
I got 13 - the only one I didn't get was "Music" since it's such a common word when it comes to pop stars..

oops-i missed a few!
8 titles.
Makenzie she looks great, Because for Her, Time goes by...so slowly, time goes by so slowly so slowly...
I counted 11 nods to her songs... I am a Big fan and have made many confessions on a dance floor to let it will be. When I hear her music I jump up.and Dance...She is a Ray of Light Lots of people think that she is a Borderline personality but I think she is a Lucky Star. With Talent that no one has ever acceded too. Like a prayer yet to be answered many may try, they Shanti shanti and put on their perfume girl, but in the end Nothing really matters, they can call Isaac and say sorry, but they will never be her.Oh well No body's perfect but her.

Love that response, Golda!

I only got 11. I missed the one word titles...I noticed the titles when I was reading the story, and thought the game you were playin' was a little hokey, and then I find out it was a GAME...COOL...

There are 13!

  1. Like a Virgin
  2. Live to Tell
  3. Lucky Star
  4. Secret
  5. Don't Tell Me
  6. Material Girl
  7. Holiday
  8. Hung Up
  9. Crazy For You
  10. Borderline
  11. Beautiful Stranger
  12. Music
  13. Who's That Girl?
Oops, one more: there's "Frozen", too. So 14 total.

Yikes I failed!!   Guess I have been out of the 80's music for a while.

Well to be fair, Kimmers, some of those songs are lot newer than the 80s :)

That  makes me feel better:)   I missed anything after about 1995.  Having a college age child I have been stuck listening to mostly rap music for the past 10 years:(  Yuck

Would much rather go back to Madonna any day.

I only found 6 too!  :/ She is totally my time, I knew every lyric of her first few albums.... I actually think I'm a material girl thanks to her.. LOL

We'll see how many more guesses we can get today, then give an answer :)

Oh boo, I only got 5... fail.

What a fun little game! I got seven.

I found eight! The one word titles were the hardest to spot, are you going to tell us how many there are total? I really think she's done a good job of keeping her face young without looking like one of those lizard ladies... eww.

I can't guess... but I will say that she looks great, whatever she's been doing!

I watched one of those People time-lapse slideshows of her from '85-now, and it's amazing how her face structure is almost exactly the same, even with whatever fillers/botox/lasers etc she's had. I feel like so many of the "enhanced" mid-aged celebs have drastically different faces than in their youth. Well done, Madge!

Oh I had better get this one right since she is from my day...6.
