Luv My New Nose: Top Teen Surgery Trends

In 2010, there were 218,909 cosmetic procedures performed* on 13-19 year olds by board-certified physicians. That's an increase of 4% over 2009 - and yes, that's a whole lot of nip & tuck for the texting generation.
Teens don't like their noses, want bigger breasts [or none, in the case of males] and are a bit obsessed with their legs [vein surgery and hair removal].
Top surgical procedures for that age group in 2010 were [based on total number of procedures]:
- Male breast reduction
- Ear surgery
- Breast augmentation [total represents only 18 and 19-year-olds]
Top minimally invasive procedures:
- Laser hair removal
- Laser leg vein treatment
- Laser skin resurfacing
Two other trends worth noting in teen surgeries and procedures: lip augmentation was down 22% from 2009, and Sculptra was up 34%.
It would be interesting to see how much of this work is done right before prom season. Guess it's no longer enough to get a blow-out and highlights...
