Kanebo to launch $450 skin treatment

Japanese luxury beauty brand Kanebo has recently reformulated its makeup products for the Sensai Cellular Performance line (shown) in order to blend in skin care treatment ingredients along with the aesthetic payoff. WWD reported that with this reformulation also comes the introduction of Kanebo's highest-price-yet 14-Day Cellular Performance Recovery Concentrate Ampoule Treatment, touted as a quick fix for dull skin.

The 14-day ampoule treatment set comes with a hefty price tag--$450. According to pre-launch hype, it features a water-based formula designed to "promote energy metabolism for all cell functions" which aim to ultimately improve skin firmness and dullness.

Each ampoule contains 2 applications/day and Kanebo is recommending the system be used especially when there is a drastic change in weather. So what's so special about Kanebo 14-Day Cellular Performance Recovery Concentrate Ampoule Treatment that jacks the price up so high? So far the only sneak peek into the formulation seems to be that its active ingredients include Kinginka Complex derived from Kinginka extract, also known as golden Japanese honeysuckle. Kinginka contains tannin, caffeine, and luteolin, a flavin known for its antioxidant benefits.

Personally, at $450, I think I'll stick with blueberries & pomegranate for my antioxidants and something like Olay's 14-day Skin Intervention treatment--for a mini skin retreat. At $25.99, it's $424.01 cheaper than Kanebo's...and plenty to hit Nordie's shoe dept. with...
