There are over 3,000 photos in the RealSelf facelift gallery, and many impressive transformations. But this is one makeover that blew our whole office away, so we had to share.

Based on the average prices reported by our community members, a makeover like this would cost around $21,000. Here's what she had done:

If this isn't the transformation of the decade, we don't know what is. Props to Dr. Eric Swanson for such a remarkable result!

I find this before and after remarkable. Excellent results; and not "platicky" as one viewer commented. The eyelids look great too. It appears that she may be with a thin build which I think makes her look natural and healthy. A+ :)

Obviously a big improvement, it took her from looking like granny to looking like a lively woman again. But one big mistake was the upper-eyelid surgery. It ruined the eyes a bit, distorted, uneven.. The skin is not reliable at this age for removing any more than true excess ; - AFTER - you first correct the volume.. which was not done.. What she, and most need far more than excision of skin around the eyes was volume added around the upper (lots) and lower preorbital area, as well as brows/temples.. The result for her eyes could have been far nicer.

HMM I am undecided and not sure I agree since the main thing is, she STILL looks like something or other has been "done" rather than natural. I think it is because of the hairstyle being "older," and also the cheeks look "fake" and the eyes don't match. Does anyone know what I mean? I see this woman and think, plasticky, still attractive, but plasticky. I would want mine to look more untouched by a doctor, to be honest. What is it that would help this look less plasticky?

Yeah, well first off all the skin you see is entirely makeup, and second are the eye issues I listed above, third is the imbalance of cheek volume due to ptosis and volume loss, and last is our brains overall check-sum that says things don't add up. Basically our right-brain knows that compartment A looks too good for compartment B, which has the wrong position for compartment C..etc.. Our brain knows the pattern of aging, and when you try to restore a face, you would have to evenly restore everything just right to really fool someone.. not an easy task. At her age you are dealing with bone loss and just about everything involved in aging, so it isn't easy. I'd say at that point that looking a bit fake is just the normal price. We can't work miracles yet.

My mother has me looking into the whole face lift thing. You would think that Los Angeles has a lot of plastic surgery doctors around.

I wonder how old she is because i'd like to know if there is an age limit for facelift surgery. My mom is 74 and has a lot of wrinkles mostly on her lower face but she'd like to have this done with local anesthesia. Anyone?
