Ok, I'm certainly not gullible when it comes to radio spots for skin care. But if you live in the NYC-metro area and you tune into 1010-WINS for your breaking news you must have heard the ads for Hydroxatone. There's simply no way to avoid them. And they're actually quite compelling if you're driving a mini-van with 5 occupied car seats, barely showered, early in the morning with take-along coffee in hand. As you listen, you hear husbands talking about their wives with such "wow, she's amazing" adulation--and all because of Hydroxatone--that you start to fall for it.

But I'm not buying it--literally and figuratively. Why? Because there's nothing earth-shattering about the ingredients. A number of anti-aging products on the market contain the same ones touted here...

Matrixyl 3000 which is basically the combination of two peptides: palmitoyl-tripeptide and palmitoyl- oligopeptide--both of which promise to stimulate collagen production, Argireline aka acetyl hexapeptide-3 and touted to help relax facial muscles a'la Botox only much more fleeting, and Hyaluronic Acid which we've waxed on and on about its moisturizing and plumping benefits, are the main ingredients in Hydroxatone. Beyond that, the Rejuvenating Treatment is packed with antioxidants, and further down the list you see vitamin E, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), vitamin C, and dimethicone, too. All great ingredients, but as I said, not earth-shattering make-your-husband-go-WOW ones.

Hydroxatone was co-founded by NYC plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Fiorillo. Its 4-step anti-aging regimen, which sells for about $100 for the set, is comprised of:

1. Hydroxatone Gentle Milk Cleanser

2. Hydroxatone Balancing Toner

3. Hydroxatone AM/PM Rejuvenating Treatment

4. Hydroxatone Instant Face Lift Pads

If you do try Hydroxatone, there's an auto-ship program that you're encouraged to sign up for (after the "risk-free" trial offer)--I've never like these come-on's, so at least there is a way to order the products individually on the Hydroxatone site--just keep scrolling down.

And let us know if you've tried Hydroxatone--what did your husband or boyfriend or dog think? Did they notice?
