Too busy to sift through the web to find the health and beauty news you need to know for this week? Not to worry, we sifted through the headlines and pulled out the good ones just for you. Read on to catch up on what you might've missed!
Aussie Taryn Brumfitt, mother of 3 and founder of The Body Image Movement (above), has exceeded her $200AUD pledge goal on Kickstarter that will fund her documentary, Embrace. Her film will focus on how she “went from a body hater to a body lover.” She continues, “I will share my journey from being devastated by my ugliness while sobbing on the bathroom floor to proudly posing nude for the whole world to see.” While we prefer to be more open-minded about each woman's right to make her own choices around her body, we fully support any woman on her journey to build back self-confidence.
How do you shop when you’re body shape has completely changed? Lots of women in our Brazilian Butt Lift community revel in their newfound bootyliciousness, but not all women know how to sartorially embrace their shape after a body transformation. Enter 28-year-old NYC comedian Caitlin Brodnick, who had a double mastectomy after she found out she had the BRCA-1 gene mutation. She chronicles a hilarious shopping trip with the goal of embracing her new body shape after going from 32Gs to 34Bs post-double mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery.
Speaking of breast reconstruction, advances are being made with 3-D printers and bio-fabrication that might enable women to get printed implants sometime in the near future. Australia’s PM reports, “Clinical trials are planned soon using the technique to enable the body to grow a new breast after a mastectomy.”
By now if you haven’t heard of the hand lift cosmetic surgery trend tied to engagement ring selfies, you’ve definitely been living under a rock. First it was the Cinderella foot surgery, now this? What could getting a six-pack sans a gazillion situps be next? Oh, wait, that’s already a thing!
Inject a little inspiration into your day with this touching video of a 600-pound woman leaving her house for the first time in 7 years. Our community moderator Bethany got all teary eyed watching it, and we think you will too!
