Never thought I'd want a patina on my face. Or the desire to look like Margaret Hamilton—aka the "I'll get you, my pretty—and your little dog, too!" witch. But then I tried out ModelCo Miracle Veil Skin Perfecting Fluid.

Chances are, you've tried a skin corrector or concealer in a non-skin-tone shade: green, yellow, lavender. And you've gone through dabbing it on (yellow on greyish areas, green on reddish areas, etc) like a paint-by-numbers set hoping that the end picture will look like something human. And heaven help if you don't blend, blend, blend the corrector out in feathery strokes...

ModelCo Miracle Veil is different. It comes in a 30ml tube—almost the size of a purse-sized hand cream. And the idea is to use it more generously as a primer vs. a spot treatment. It's a fluid, as the name says, so it glides on smoothly much the way a moisturizer would.

Miracle Veil contains a moderate (lame in my book) sunscreen: SPF14. But it also has White Mulberry Root Extract and Hawthorn Extract—which provides antioxidant benefits. Miracle Veil also contains Hydrogenated Lecithin, which is a phospholipid. Phospholipids are made up of glycerol, fatty acids and phosphate and are included in skincare formulations for their ability to lock in moisture. The package instructs me to apply Miracle Veil after moisturizing, which is fine during these colder months--but I'm betting in warmer weather I could use Miracle Veil as both corrector and moisturizer.

In terms of coverage, don't expect a "Miracle", but Miracle Veil will help even discolorations out and also tone down mild redness that can be common as skin ages. But it's not going to cover rosacea or more severe imperfections—you'll still need a concealer. Miracle Veil does blend in well, and the green patina soon fades as the veil is absorbed.

I'd use Miracle Veil as a light primer or corrective makeup--it does help and every bit of help counts. However, I can see the need for additional concealer in some spots, or spot application of foundation. Also, for those with sensitive skin, Miracle Veil contains some mineral oil and fragrance. Miracle Veil retails for $38.
