Webinar: Why I Finally Decided to Get a Tummy Tuck

AnneF on 14 Feb 2011 at 12:00am

For those of you considering a tummy tuck, it will come as no surprise that the main reason women say they want this surgery, is that no matter how hard they work out or strictly they diet, they can’t get a flat belly, particularly after childbirth.

Here’s what RealSelf users say prompted them to get tummy tucks*:

  • "I am a 31 year old mother of three who is tired of my stomach sitting in my lap. I have tried different diets and different gym memberships and no matter what, the pooch is still there. So this year for my birthday I am sending it packing!!!" Memphis226
  • "I finally have a flat stomach that I was never able to acheive with exercise and diet. Even before having children I never had a flat stomach—it's just not in my genes. I wish I would have done it in my 20s and saved myself years of hating my body and starving myself." 8106anon

The drains didn't bother me until they were removed. I anchoraged mine well to my clothing or binder. I reinforced the opening with good surgical tape. It really kept it from moving around. That is what hurts. The removal was horrible for me but over within a few minutes.

I agree with the need for help! I was not mentally prepared for all I wen through. I had the extended tummy tuck and Im now almost 4 weeks post op. But went in telling my boyfriend "oh just bring me home from surgery and I will be fine, no need to take off from work"! WOW so glad he didn't listen to me! He took off 6 days and I dreaded seeing him go back to work on the 7th day! But now its 4 weeks and I feel fine, still trying to get my energy level back!

I'm getting a TT the same day! I worry about the same things. I hear taking it easy the first two weeks will help tremendously with your recovery. And also around the clock drugs. :-)
