Also try: cosmetic plastic surgery
Feb 3, 2007
Can you avoid a traditional facelift and get a mini-facelift alternative instead? Listen to Dr. Portuese, a Seattle plastic surgeon, podcast about options for sagging skin:
- There are numberous types of facelifts: mini-lifts, mini-tucks, thread lifts, string lifts, and weekend lifts
- Minimally invasive surgery enables quicker recovery time than a facelift, but yields minimal results
- A full facelift will give the most dramatic results but requires a minimum of 2 weeks for recovery
It is important to choose the cosmetic procedure that will give you the desired end results.

I had a threadlift performed by a Doctor who is NOT a plastic surgeon. Yes, I should have checked that his before and afters WERE really by him; yes, I should have spoken to someone (face to face) who had HIS work done; yes, I should have checked with the College of Physicians and Surgeons (but in New Brunswick they won't tell me IF he has those credentials to do the work) and yes, I should have asked if his 'assistant' IS a Registered Nurse - but I didn't. I took him at face value because he does hair transplants at a local place that I know has a good reputation. Within the two week follow up period he said he was disappointed that there were no visible changes to my face and I agreed. He said he'd 'fix it' but needed time to have scar tissue adhere to the threads so he could pull on them. Fast forward one year later, and during a discussion JUST before the 'fixing' I find out his assistant is NOT a registered nurse; I find out he's had to 'fix' 30 other people in the last year! AND that he's not been given any training to do this 'fix' - he's making it up as he goes! I decline the 'fix' and request a refund to which he agrees (with witnesses). Now, he's not giving me the refund and fighting me with a lawyer. This is ridiculous. I want other potential threadlift clients to be aware of the dangers of this situation and NOT make the foolish mistake I did.
