As many beauty brands get on the eco-friendly bandwagon, a few are--and have been--making a big difference. These companies were in a recent report at the Daily Mail Online:

Chantecaille supports marine conservation

Chantecaille

Chantecaille shells out 5% from the proceeds of its gorgeous Protect Paradise compacts for Protect Paradis compacts for eyes and face, and donates it to the Pew Fellowship in Marine Conservation to fund vital research of fish sustainability and marine preservation.

MAC Viva Glam supports the MAC Aids Fund

M.A.C.

Since 1994, M.A.C. has been supporting the battle against AIDS and HIV by putting every cent raised from its Viva Glam Lipstick into the MAC Aids Fund. MAC has made a staggering $150 million since then.

Nude SkincareBono is a backer of Nude Skincare

Dedicated to reducing pollution (and backed by Bono), Nude Skincare combines eco-chic with eco-credibility by using shipping instead of airmiles to move its beauty cargo. The brand, with products like Nude Skincare Moisturizing Body Polish, has also made its packaging entirely recyclable, and aims for its products to be entirely biodegradable in the long run.

Aveda

Aveda does its share to help the environment not only by usingAveda uses windpower in its manufacturing natural ingredients, but also by extending help to the native women living in Brazil's east Amazon region. This action supposedly discourages conglomerate importers and middleman companies from usurping the interests of the Native women, and makes sure that Babassu nut (a vital ingredient in many Aveda products, such as Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother) is carefully harvested in order to avoid depletion of resources and environmental damage. To top it off, Aveda claims to manufacture all its products using 100% wind power.

Kudos to these brands for making a difference.

Have you tried the products of these eco-friendly brands? WiWi: Was it Worth it?
