A Bounty of Beauty Products to Celebrate Earth Day

Beauty Cred on Apr 18, 2007

Earth Day is SundayIt is easy being green, after all. This Sunday, April 22nd is Earth Day. Here are some great beauty and skin care products that are eco-friendly, good for you, and help sustain our planet.

I am often dismayed at how much packaging is used to contain one small item.
But get your green thumb ready… Pangea Organics has brilliantly created 100% compostable, biodegradable packaging for their products. Better yet, the boxes are laden with seeds, and you can plant them in soil after soaking them in water. Try their Indian Lemongrass with Rosemary bar soap, whose box creates sweet basil with a little TLC from you.

You’ve heard of corn on the cob, but what about corn in the tube? Cargo has invented 12 rosy shades of PlantLove Botanical Lipstick, whose container tube, made entirely of corn, will help prevent global warming by emitting less green house gases. And talk about flower power… the carton containing the product is embedded with wildflower seeds that you may plant to start your own garden!

Join the buzz on Burt’s Bees products… another conscientious company who makes the Earth a priority in all of their manufacturing and packaging processes. Try their ingenious Vanishing Facial Powder Tissues which are made out of rice paper and will blot away any shine you may have on your face from knowing you’re making the world a better place.

While you’re out enjoying our planet, be sure to slather on some of Juice Beauty’s Organic SPF 30 Sheer Moisturizer. It’s a triple winner with all organic ingredients, antioxidants and anti-aging properties. The two California women behind this brand have really stepped up to bat for our Earth by inventing such an amazing line of high-quality organic products.

I think that the packaging for Cargo's Plant Love was such an ingenious idea. If it would be so easy as planting packaging, we would cut down on so much waste. I am all for it, and wish this technology were more readily available for different types of products as well.
