Welsh beauty, Catherine Zeta-Jones has looks reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. Her hair always flows in the right direction; and her lips, often decorated in red lipstick, maintain a constant sexy pout.
The 37 year-old must recognize her own stylish allure because she declares in a very Mae West type of sentiment, “I came out of the womb wearing makeup.”
Married to Michael Douglas, 26 years her senior, the actresses’ youth seems even more apparent every time the couple steps into the spotlight side by side. But the glare of the limelight usually eludes them, as they live in Bermuda most of the year with their two young children.
Zeta-Jones did make it back to our neck of the woods however, to shoot “No Reservations” with Aaron Eckhart. She plays a top chef in the film, which hits theaters this July. Her last major role was in Chicago, for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Award in 2003, but she first leapt off the silver screen and awed movie goers with her sword wielding ways and corseted bosom in The Mask of Zorro.
A One Stop Beauty Shop
Catherine has made her mark on the beauty world, as the face of cosmetics heavyweight, Elizabeth Arden. The perfume she has been toting recently, “Provocative Woman,” has had wildly successful sales. Perhaps her reign as their endorser inspired her to start lining her own pockets, because she is set to launch her own perfume line, and has plans to put her name and face behind hair care, sun care products, and even deodorant.
A cupboard full of beauty secrets
Reportedly, Catherine owes the lustrous quality of her shiny mane to castor oil, which she applies regularly. And another rumor in the beauty mill is that she gets her pearly whites by brushing her teeth with strawberries.
There’s nothing heroic about being ‘Super-Skinny’
After gaining weight for both of her pregnancies, and embracing a curvier figure, the mother of two referred to fellow new Hollywood star moms as “insane,” for trying to shed baby weight quickly after giving birth. Her exact words were, "I think it's awful, this competition between actresses who just had a baby to see who's first to get back to their normal weight. It's insane. I find this wave of super-skinny women scary."
Brilliant Biceps?
Catherine declares, "My muscles have memory from the time I danced, and it's quick for me to get back in shape, but I'm not fanatical. I grew up with dancers. Anorexia and other disorders were common, so I learned how to deal with diets without losing my limit.”
As for me, I sure wish my muscles could remember what they looked like when I was about 17…
But it’s no surprise that Catherine’s body is in great shape, as she is very active and athletic. She’s always in some photo playing golf, or at least walking along the course. Zeta-Jones is also a fan of cardiovascular workouts, and she swims and does yoga.
She thinks Women should look like, well, Women…
The actress shares, “I like women who look like women. I hated grunge. No one's more feminist than me, but you don't have to look as if you don't give a - you know. You can be smart, bright, and attractive aesthetically to others - and to yourself.”
