The demand for cosmetic surgery in the UK is strong.  Mintel research says 22 million Brits desire some form of cosmetic surgery.

Women who seek body reshaping operations (tummy tuck and liposuction) are the key to an expanding cosmetic surgery market.  Procedures for body shaping surgery, led by tummy tuck surgery which increased in surgeries performed by 29% from last year, totaled £148 million for 2007.

Mintel also found 40% of British women would consider tummy tuck surgery. Three in five (57%) of women with young children are open to a tummy tuck and half (49%) would consider liposuction.

"Having children puts women's bodies through an awful lot of change, and many may feel unhappy with their post-pregnancy figure. This is a key reason why mums are most likely to want surgery," comments Alexandra. "To some, a cosmetic procedure seems like it would be a quick and easy solution, when in reality it can be anything but."

The RealSelf.com Tummy tuck surgery reviews and related discussion agree with this statement.  While the majority of RealSelf.com members say Tummy tuck is worth it (+88 percent of reviews as of this writing), it's not described in light terms. Tummy tucks are expensive and the highly invasive surgery experiences are described as requiring long and often painful recovery time.
