Doctor-prescribed care for sunburn

I've got some advice for a friend of mine who is very fair-skinned and who had almost made it through the summer without even the slightest kiss of sun on her skin--until this week. And the sun kissed her quite passionately I might add. No, I won't tell her about sunscreen ex post facto--but there is something that recently appeared in Marie Claire (Aug. '08) for her to try for her sunburn: Biafine Topical Emulsion.

Although a French pharmacy favorite, Biafine Topical Emulsion is typically prescribed by dermatologists the US. It is a primary treatment for burn victims in hospitals, but it can also be used for soothing sunburned skin and minimizing unsightly peeling.

Have you tried treating sunburn with Biafine Topical Emulsion? Let us know what you thought.

I recently had several moles taken and retaken off my face. The methods used were punch, scrape, laser, and freeze. The doctor who did it gave me biafine to help with scarring. Some of the spots were redone from a prior doctor procedure. I have to say there is a huge differnce in the rapid healing/filling in of the scars. I thought the cream was a gimmick at first but tried it anyway. I will use it ever time I may have a scar and need faster healing on my face.
