Rosie and Barbara on blogs and Botox

It's been only two weeks since Rosie O'Donnell took over Meredith Vieira's hosting gig on "The View" but sparks are already flying. Not Star Jones-level sparks, but sparks nonetheless.

First there was the issue of Ro's notorious all-haiku blog at Rosie.com. Before her on-air debut, Rosie vented her frustrations with the promos she'd been asked to shoot for the "The View."

But Barbara Walters, the friend and mentor who'd brought Rosie to the show, didn't appreciate Rosie's candor. She told Newsweek,

"I didn't like the blog. I'm counting on Rosie's intelligence and sensitivity and humor. This is, after all, an entertainment show. It is based on people who like each other and are having a good time, not on people who are arguing and unhappy."

To patch things up, Rosie sent Babs a bouquet of flowers with a card that read, "Barbara, I only want the promos and the show to be great. And I love you." Rosie later teased Barbara during an on-air segment saying, "she doesn't know how to get on Internet Explorer, what are they talking about?"

Next came the revelation that, like the press photo of Katie Couric that was doctored to make her look thinner, a publicity shot of the cast of "The View" had been altered to make Rosie look slimmer. (When is somebody gonna airbrush some hair onto Matt Lauer's bald spot or thin down Lou Dobbs?)

Of course Barbara and the rest of the cast are accustomed to far more drama. Even more, Babs seems to be stretching her own personality to accommodate Rosie's fun, frank style. Barbara, who's turning 75 this week, even opened up to Rosie about her anti-aging techniques.

On the September 7th episode of "The View," Rosie pointedly asked Barbara whether or not she uses Botox. Barbara laughed and asked, "Do I have to tell them the truth? Yes!" Then, pointing to her the area between her eyes, she explained, "If they Botox right around here and put in a little anesthesia, it's fine!"
