I consider myself a natural dieter. Not since high school have I tried a diet pill or supplement shake. Not even a cute Pink Patch has appealed to me.
But I have to admit the advertising and sharp packaging of the Alli diet supplement has caught my attention. That and a new forum topic on RealSelf.com that asks: "is alli weight loss program worth it?"
Deciding that perhaps I can be open to a new approach to diets, I visited the Alli website to find out what's in the Alli box that's retailing for over $20.
I became frustrated that I couldn't easily find a list of contents or ingredients (I did discover alli is a pill made by a pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline) so I soon found myself taking the Alli weight loss readiness quiz. Allow me to walk you through my quiz.
Question 1: I am willing to do the hard work to lose weight gradually
My answer: Agree. But that's the problem. I'm already doing hard work!
Question 2: I am committed to following a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet
My answer: Agree with disappointment. I was hoping I could stick to high fat, high calorie by taking Alli.
Question 3: I understand that if I take alli with a meal containing too much fat, I may get treatment effects, such as gas with oily spotting, loose stools, and more frequent stools that may be hard to control.
My answer: Disagree. Are they kidding? I may crap my pants on this diet. Does anyone "Agree" with this?
Question 4: I am committed to eating smaller portions
My answer: Agree. This isn't fun at all.
Question 5: I am committed to making time to be more physically active
My answer: Agree. Ditto. Even less fun and attractive.
Question 6: I will read and follow the alli label
My answer: maybe, but why don't you show me it before I agree?
I failed the alli readiness quiz.
