Real Orange County housewives not reality
Beauty in Seattle on Jan 30, 2007
The Real Housewives of Orange County (Tuesday, 9 p.m., Bravo) is coming back for 2nd season. It's hard not to squirm when
watching what's "real" for the cast of characters. I guess therein is the appeal.Last season we got to meet Kimberly who illustrated to me that living far from O.C. was more than a lucky break.
Kimberly's blog describes when she opted to get breast implants at age 40:
It was after moving to their exclusive community when Scott [her husband, an executive] turned to Kimberly to request she get breast surgery, after noticing that many of the community's women were quite well-endowed. Unshaken by this request, the upbeat Kimberly was delighted to become a trophy wife for her husband.Am I wrong to be stunned by this comment?
Expect season 2 to continue the parade of detached-from-reality souls who seek meaning and fulfillment in all the wrong places (like the shopping center).

I think it's like watching a train wreck. If this is how "the other half" lives, I'm happy to be happy with my husband who is a Marine and our monthly bills about break even with his paycheck. Because you know what? I don't care what the "Joneses" have or don't have...they can be just as ignorant and self centered as they like. I'll stick my Levi's and I'll still think Victoria's Secret is the height of sexy! LOL! What matters to ME is my husband and children love me and they think I'm beautiful. Inside and out!
