Simplicity & Perfection in one? So says Per-fekt Beauty...

True story. My son, who's braving potty land, calls me from the bathroom. I joyously praise him for his efforts only to find him shaking his head "no". It's then that I realize he has done what he intended to do, but he's done it 180-degrees from where he should have. Literally. If he just turned.... And a little voice inside me says, "does it have to be this difficult? shouldn't it be...simpler than this?"
And so, inexplicably, my mind turns to makeup and to Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfecting Gel. Per-fekt Beauty is all about keeping it simple. Easy. Quick. No-brainer. I'm there. Let's give it a whirl--besides, Sephora's pushing it at stores right now and they've been know to launch a good thing or two (let's not forget Lip Fusion). So here's my first impression...
Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfecting Gel is at first glance all I've ever wanted in a foundation. Here's the quick-list of attributes: easy, quick, covers "things", gives a glow, feels weightless, one-step only, contains anti-aging benefits, provides hydration. Is there a reason NOT to try it? Can't find one. I'm trying Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfecting Gel in Luminous (the shade name--it comes in 5).
The texture of Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfecting Gel is mousse-like. Definitely airy & lightweight. As I apply it, it glides on like silk. I wait for it to settle into places I don't want it to be in, but it doesn't! It's got dimethicone in it, which explains the silky texture, but it also contains Retinyl Palmitate and Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E). The online ingredient list also reveals alpha-lipoic acid, an anti-aging fave of Dr. Perricone. It also contains Titanium Dioxide, though it's not called out as an active ingredient, nor does the package say it contains sunscreen.
I find the coverage of Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfecting Gel so-so. It does even some things out, but I can still see a hint of a couple of freckles I have. To the touch, my skin feels phenomenal--incredibly smooth. I'd like to try a deeper shade, to see if it gives me more of a glow--much like the one I experienced with DYG mineral makeup.
WiWi: Was it Worth it? Per-fekt Beauty Skin Perfecting Gel glides on so smoothly and did not settle into any lines. The coverage is more sheer than I expected given its claims, but I would still wear it. I'd like to see it with a hi-level UVA/UVB sunscreen, too. It's definitely easy, quick & feels great! Might be a little pricey though at about $57 for 1 oz....
