La Mer La Mer the Face Mist

Thanks to the Spring '08 issue of On Makeup magazine, just recently launched by Michael DeVellis (at left), founder of The Powder Group and Former M.A.C Executive Director of Artist Relations, I'm on to another makeup artist fave for skin prep. I had a chance to talk with Michael about all things makeup--and particularly up & coming niche brands, at The Makeup Show NYC this weekend. Michael shared his love of--or healthy obsession with endive--but that's another story, for perhaps another venue (think brick & mortar, think cocktail...)

So I've discovered another little gem that seems to consistently show up in makeup artists' bags: La Mer The Mist.

I was getting really tired (and really bored) of opening yet another mag that highlights Maybelline's Great Lash Mascara as the tried-and-true no-makeup-pro-can-live-without beauty gem. (Full disclosure--it's never been my personal fave). So it was refreshing to find La Mer The Mist. It's a rehydrator and refresher for skin that's looking a bit depleted. And it's to be found in the makeup kits of Joanna Schlip (who's celeb clients include Scarlett Johansson, Brittany Murphy, Kim Cattrall, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Eva Longoria, Molly Sims, Kyra Sedgwick, Lucy Liu....I could go on forever) and Trefor Proud (with a celeb list of Laura Linney, Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Tilda Swinton, Kate Beckinsale, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Forlani...and on and on...).

If La Mer The Mist works for them...hmm, maybe I need to step up from Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray (though that's in some kits, too).

We'll have more from The Makeup Show NYC, which is presented by The Powder Group. But for now I'm just engrossed in On Makeup--great mag with great visual interest, great reads...and while its primary audience is definitely the pros, this is one trade mag that will not bore. Check it out!
