Just a little (Evian) spritz, please!
It's going to be 70 degrees here in NYC today (or so they say). That gets me in a summery mindset. Which gets me to daydreaming that I'm on a Caribbean beach, cocktail in hand, misting my face with the classic Evian Brumisateur. Ok, not really. But I did think of Evian's Atomizer today.
Why? Evian has re-packaged its Evian Brumisateur after...well, let's say it's been a few years. The repackage is nice--a sexy curve replaces the tomboy-straight canister and the seventies hi-gloss finish gave way to a more contemporary matte finish. The sexy curve isn't just aesthetic either--it's right where your fingers grasp the canister as you spray--it's a functional thing, too. (see old vs. new packaging below at right).
My first impression is basically like every impression I've had of Evian Brumisateur. It's a spritzy refreshing spray that makes my face misty wet. Evian claims it'll refresh, which it does. Evian also claims it'll help "set" my makeup post application--which I've done in the past. But Evian also says it'll increase my skin's hydration by 14%. Hmm.
Now, let me be completely transparent here. For a while, the Caribbean gem of St. Lucia was more or less my second home. So I'm big on staying cool & refreshed with a spritz or two. But I honestly would not use Evian Brumisateur as a moisturizer. What I used to do was to spray Evian on my face apres moisturizer.
The thought of straight water (spring or not, from the Alps or from my tap) being moisturizing is completely counter-intuitive to me--and certainly don't ask me about it if I've just washed dishes sans gloves! So I'm having to work really hard to believe/accept/agree that Evian Brumisateur is moisturizing. Besides, if I want a moisturizer, 14% isn't exactly going to move my hydration needle.
QUICK TAKE: I can easily get swept away by the glamorous allure of spritzing Evian Brumisateur on my face while basking in an offshore Caribbean breeze (note: no sun basking here), but I'm not buying an effective moisturization claim.
