Oprah + Allure + Demi Moore + Vogue + Dr. Sears = ?

Dremu Oil (and pure Emu Oil in general) have hit almost cult status. Emu Oil has been in the press frequently--mostly touted as an anti-aging wonder. And beyond the pure oil, Dremu Deception was the "it cream" claiming (in Allure) to make "lines, creases and wrinkles vanish instantly".

I've been digging around as, while I've tried pure Emu Oil, I haven't tried Dremu Deception--or really any of the other Emu Oil-based hopes in a jar. In my digging, I came across a transcript of Dr. Barry Sears (author of "The Zone") on the Potential Hormonal Effects of Emu Oil Presented at the AEA Annual Symposium in Rochester, MN in 2000. It's a while ago, but here's what he said about Emu Oil:

When you talk about the benefits of using emu oil – they usually fall into three categories: it appears to relieve inflammation (it’s an anti-inflammatory agent), it appears to relieve pain, and it appears to improve the healing of wounds. Usually, the first thing that comes to most people’s mind is snake oil. During the work I’ve done over the past 20 years, I’ve also been accused of being a snake oil salesperson. After all, how can one thing do so many things?

His presentation is really a bit more scientific--after all it was about Potential Hormonal Effects of Emu Oil. But the above quote struck me because here's a medical professional basically showing support (yes, he uses that skin industry catchword "appears") for the jack-of-all-trades Emu Oil. Is it really this good?

I even found a site that has "50 of the Many  Benefits of Emu Oil" but when I hit #16-Increases your mobility and #47-Helps alleviate headaches--and all from an oil that reduces eye puffiness, wrinkles and age spots!--well, things were sounding dubious at best.

Dremu Deception is on my to-try list. But if Demi, Oprah, Goldie and a slew of beauty editors tout Emu Oil's wonders, can it be a fraud? Tell me what you think!
