I don't know about you, but now that everyone--literally everyone--has out a mineral makeup line, I've just about hit my saturation point. And if you haven't noticed, they all say the same thing. Here's how the drill goes:
Girl is unhappy with makeup on market. Girl wants something natural...something good for easily irritated skin, but also something with benefits. Girl starts her own makeup line to satisfy herself. It's suitable for sensitive skin, contains sunscreen, provides a natural look....and on and on. You really have to read to find what truly differentiates these mineral makeup lines from one another. And now all the big boys are playing in the mineral sandbox as well: L'Oreal, Revlon, Maybelline, to name a few.
So I don't bother much with the ads and the hype. It all comes down to once I've applied it, is it worth it?
And here's one that I think is: DYG Cosmetics Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20. DYG is the brainchild of Dianne York-Goldman, CEO of the La Jolla Spa MD (shown at left) in sunny La Jolla, CA. And here's my first impression:
DYG Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20 is a liquid mineral formula that comes in 5 skin-friendly shades (I'm using Cameo Glow) and glides on smoothly and evenly to leave a slight hint of color and a refreshed looking glow. While I've also been known to use sunless facial tanners for a bit of a glow, I like the way this gives my skin an instant visual pick-me-up. And while the $42 price tag may be higher than most drugstore versions, I think it's worth it--I've tried too many other versions that either dry a bit cake-y on my skin or don't go on as evenly (and I've spent way more than $42 doing that!).
I blogged about Colorescience Pearlescience Pep Up Gel recently, which I generally liked but found it did not provide any color whatsoever and not much of a glow--it's not a foundation, but it claims to "get you glowing". DYG Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20 is a foundation, but it's sheer and lightweight, so it gives that hint of just-enough color that gets me glowing.
QUICK TAKE: DYG Cosmetics Mineral Sheer Tint SPF 20 gives me what I'm looking for--a quick, easy, hint-of-color glow that's great for everyday and has the benefit of sunscreen protection and suitability for sensitive skin. But just keep in mind it's a bit pricier than drugstore versions at $42.

This is a great find. I used to love the MAC face & body foundation because I prefer very sheer, natural looking coverage. But once I discovered that it offers zero sun protection, I switched to MAC Select SPF 15 foundation despite my wish for sheer coverage. I will have to try the DYG Cosmetics Mineral Sheer Tint to see if it can fulfill my wish for a sheer coverage foundation with SPF 15+.
