A Little Pep (in my face)
It's that vague in-between time when I'm feeling washed out from winter (translation = pale skinned) and yet not sure it's time to be sporting a glow. However, Colorescience's Pearlescience Pep Up Gel is sitting in front of me and it promises to tighten, lift and plump my skin all while giving it a little healthy-looking glow.
The Colorescience site describes Pearlescience Pep Up Gel as follows:
"This Pep Up Gel contains three peptides to give the appearance of tightening, lifting and plumping. It is enhanced with the true hidden treasure of real pearl powder, an ancient beauty secret of the Orient. Light-reflective pigment makes imperfections seem to disappear. Universal colore that works for almost any skin tone. Corrects redness, brightens sallow complexions, and adds a certain unmistakable glow."
So I've decided to give the Colorescience Pep Up Gel a try. My first impression is that it's probably going to turn me an orangey color--this is due to the Pep Up Gel's almost terracotta-garden-pot color--which I'm hoping is not due to the beta carotene that's in Pep Up Gel (anyone ever fed a baby a bit too many jars of pureed carrots? then you know what I'm thinking.) The other Colorescience Pep Up Gel ingredients are some hefty anti-agers: brightening pearl powder, protecting zinc oxide, correcting titanium dioxide and moisturizing hyaluaronic acid. This Pep Up Gel should pack a punch!
Upon application, the lightweight Colorescience Pep Up Gel amazingly fades to skin color--and, at least on me, my natural one--not even the slightest of a bronzer look at all. Pep Up Gel definitely makes my skin feel smoother, but I'll have to wear it a bit to really see the moisturization level. Colorescience Pep Up Gel has a faint lingering scent as well--it's a bit unique, owing to the blend of menthol, sandalwood, neroli, lavender and cypress.
QUICK TAKE: For a post-winter pick-me-up, Colorescience's Pearlescience Pep Up Gel certainly sounds like a great glow-giver before self-tanner season. I'll have to give it more time though to really see if its ingredients deliver on their anti-aging word.
