40-percent think Botox parties might be ok

May 14, 2008

Survey results are now available for consumer perspectives on cosmetic injectables (i.e. Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Collagen).  We found that most consumers are confused over key safety factors, but trust specialty physicians and their peers to make smart decisions.

Highlights from the survey conducted by RealSelf.com and the Physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety, include:

  • 40.6% are unsure if Botox parties are safe
  • Nearly 70% believe that a cosmetic injectable is a beauty treatment
  • 80% believe consumer reviews and are important to researching cosmetic injectables
  • Less than 5% trust magazines or advertising for treatment information
  • Blogs were seen as a more important source for researching information on cosmetic injections than  product brochures, manufacturer websites, and advertisement
