Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel
This oil and fatty acid-free treatment gel reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, controls excess oil, clarifies the skin, increases cell turnover and smoothes away rough texture.
Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel reviews
Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel was worth itI'm 37 and battle both acne and wrinkles. Although, most would not know it as I also have used this product for years and LOVE it. Friends would always comment on my clear, glowing face and I would attribute it mostly to this product. Then...PTR discontinued it!! I've since tried switching to their Hydrating version of this product and...its just not the same. If anyone has any advice on a similar product to the PTR Clarifying Glycolic on the market, I would love to know about it. Thanks!
Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel was worth itI was at Sephora, and I picked up the Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel on a whim. I've been seriously missing a daily exfoliating product in my skin care regimen, so I figured a glycolic or salicylic acid product would be a good place to start.
The ingredients list looked good (Glycolic acid was one of the first listed, and thus a potent ingredient in the serum, and BHA or salicylic acid was also in there), so I figured if the price was right, I'd go with it. Compared to the prices of many of the other PTR products, I thought $45 for 2 oz. of exfoliating gel, which is used very sparingly, was a fair price.
I used it last night for the first time, and holy cow...it has already made a difference. My skin definitely feels smoother, and a lovely breakout that was emerging on my forehead and cheeks is fading. Since I didn't have any regular facial exfoliating routine, I'm sure almost any glycolic or beta hydroxy product would have made a difference, but I was really impressed at how quickly I noticed an improvement.
I also have really combination oily/sensitive skin, which I was afraid would be irritated by this product, but no redness, peeling, or any irritation occurred at all. I will update my review after I've used the PTR Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel for a few weeks, but as of now, I am very happy with my purchase.

So I still think this is a really great product, but I disagree with the usage directions. It says you are supposed to work up from using the gel once every other day to using it twice a day, and I think that is completely unnecessary. Once every other day has made a noticeable difference in my skin tone, texture and clarity, and using it twice a day just made my skin a bit red and irritated. I do have relatively sensitive skin, but still, I think that using the Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Clarifying Gel twice a day is like "Wash, rinse, repeat" -- it is an extra product use that requires you to run out faster...so you have to buy more. Using it once every other day works just fine for me and keeps irritation at bay.
