“Sundari” means “beautiful woman” in Sanskrit—and the L.A.-based Sundari is the brainchild of three women: Ayla Hussain, Cavan Mahony and Christy Turlington—each of whom, according to Sundari, contributed their own specific expertise and passion for holistic skin care. Sundari is based on the science of Ayurveda, which is acknowledged as the oldest medical science in India and advocates seeking holistic balance. Sundari claims to embrace the principles of Ayurveda in its skin care, and in doing so uses only “the purest botanicals” as its ingredients. Sundari Neem and Aloe Vera Tonic Water, for example, has Neem Extract in it which contains sulfur that Sundari claims is a building block of collagen. Chamomile Eye Oil promises to soothe the delicate eye area skin while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
