About Sephora

Sephora began as a beauty retailer in France in 1969, and is well-known for their "open-sell environment" approach to displaying product. Sephora was purchased by luxury group LVMH in 1997, and the retailer opened its first US location soon after in 1998 in New York. In its retail locations, Sephora carries about 250 brands--both "the classics and emerging" up & comers. Sephora prides itself on its fashion-forward sensibility--reflected in its sleek black & white logo--and Sephora continues to be a presence at all the fashion shows. Many a new name in the beauty industry has gotten a lift by gaining some shelf space at Sephora--one to note: Fusion Beauty, whose Lip Fusion "sold off the shelves" at Sephora when it launched. Sephora also has its own private label, which includes FACE Repair Balm-Face, Lips & Hands--a one-stop-shopping formula that claims the benefits of shea and sweet almond oils to hydrate and protect skin. Sephora FACE Age Prevention Moisturizers tout antioxidants to protect against free radical damage and "nutripepdtides" to smooth and brighten skin.
