Prevage

Prevage

The Prevage MD Company Line

“PREVAGE® MD protects your skin from environmental stressors known to cause skin aging including UV light, air pollution, ozone, and cigarette smoke. The antioxidative power of PREVAGE MD anti-aging treatment has been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as skin roughness and dryness, and to even skin tone to restore youthful-looking skin”

The Bottom Line

While non-prescription Prevage is available at Elizabeth Arden, prescription-strength Prevage MD is only available through your doctor. The Prevage MD formula promises to correct the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while protecting skin against environmental stressors. How? Prevage MD’s key ingredient is Idebenone, which according to Allergan, the company which makes the treatment, is the most powerful topical anti-oxidant available. Non-prescription Prevage just launched its nighttime version: Prevage Anti-aging Night Cream, which claims to help skin compensate for--at least in terms of skin's appearance--problematic sleep, and professes to aid in skin's own overnight repair process to leave skin "repaired, refreshed and recovered".

Did You Know?

Allergan, the pharmaceutical company which makes and markets Prevage MD and partnered with Elizabeth Arden to launch non-prescription Allergan is also the company behind the well-known wrinkle treatment: Botox.

Next: Elizabeth Arden, Obagi, SkinMedica

Real Simple magazine beauty editors made PREVAGE EYE ANTI-AGING MOISTURIZING TREATMENT ($95) one of their top beauty picks. They state: "Eye creams tend to be greasy and thick--except this one. It has a light texture (so it's great under makeup), minimizes little lines, and makes skin look almost matte. Plus, it's gentle on sensitive skin near the eyes."

I'm allergic to Prevage! I thought it was a great product for about 4 days (made my skin look wonderful) but then I got a rash and had to go to the doctor for some topical cortisone. Uncertain whether it was the prevage I used it again and yep, the rash came right back. I was so disappointed because it seemed like such a great product but I have sensitive skin. Bottom Line: Ask for a sample and do an allergy test before forking over the dough, because it's totally worth the price only if your skin doesn't have a negative reaction.

SAME AS MARGOT. I USED IT BEFORE, LIKED IT OK. DEVELOPED A RASH SO I DISCONTINUED USE. I TRIED IT AGAIN A YEAR LATER BECAUSE I GOT A FREE SAMPLE AND I GOT RED, ITCHY, AND SWOLLEN. MY EYES SWELLED SHUT AND IT HURT. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN 4 HOURS OF APPLICATION. NEXT, IT GOT WORSE, ATTACKED MY NERVOUS SYSTEM AND COULDNT GET OUT OF BED FOR 3-4 DAYS. THIS ISNT WORTH THE MINIMAL RESULTS.

I tried Prevage and initially thought my skin looked better. However, I also developed a bumpy skin rash. I wasn't sure what product I was using that was causing the rash so I stopped using everything. The rash cleared up in a few days and I gradually added items back one by one. Once I started the Prevage again the rash returned. Since it is quite expensive I didn't really want to believe that Prevage was the culprit so I tried it on my arm. Sure enough, I developed a bumpy rash on my arm where the Prevage was applied. To be fair, I wonder if the product had sustained some damage due to exposure to high heat as I had just traveled a lot and it was summer. Maybe sitting out on a hot tarmac in my luggage caused the ingredients to degrade.

I am sure it is the Prevage that I used that has caused my exceedingly uncomfortable and unattractive red, itching rash. It occurred the morning after using it. Here is what the doctor recommends: oral antihistamine and a topical hydrocortisone cream (1%). It is still very itchy - cool packs are very soothing and helpful. DON'T USE THIS Product until you have tested it. I have used all sorts of products and never had a rash like this.

Believe it. Prevage is the culprit for the acne-like rash on my face. It is only thing I've been using since I bought it last two week. Everything was going to nice in the first week. But I noticed few scalings on my skin this week, but nothing seemed to be serious. Two days ago, my face suddenly looked like a sun-burn skin but with a lot of rash. And it is very itchy, really itchy. I bought TriDerma, which contain aloe to help reduces itching and redness. The itching was gone after the first day and the redness was alleviated. But the acne-like rash still remain on my face and neck. It makes my face look so bumpy now. Anybody try anything that works to get rid of the rash from prevage allergy?? I am so worried about it. I used to have a lot of breakout, I know that what on my face is not acne although its apperance looks like acne. Horrible, toxic prevage!

I tried prevage. I dont have any concerns with wrinkles or fine lines. Although, prevage really helps my skin staying softer and brighter. My skin acted perfectly with prevage. I love it. Esspcially Prevage Night moisturizer! I recommend using Ceramide Plump perfect cream(Elizabeth Arden) after using the prevage treatment in the morning and as for night time use the prevage night. Always use a moisturizer after prevage. I love it.

I used Elizabeth Arden's Prevage for 5 1/2 weeks when I also bought and added the Prevage night cream everynight. After 10 days on the night cream, a total of 7 weeks on Prevage, some hive like, very itchy red areas emerged on one side of my face. I thought I had been bitten by some bug. The next day itchy red hives were on both sides of my face. So decided it might be the Prevage, so didn't use the night creme. Today, both sides of my face, my cheeks and down my neck are a mass of hives, very itchy. My face looks very blotchy. I have taken the over the counter benedryl but itching continues and none of the blotching nor hives have receded. I am looking for a solution. I have to drive 75 miles to my doctor and doubt if I can even get an appointment any sooner. Help Please.
