The M.D. FORTÉ® alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) skin care system claims to deliver higher AHA levels than similar products, to provide maximum exfoliation benefits—without irritation. The way in which M.D. Forte achieves its less-irritating formula is through a process they call “partial neutralization.” According to M.D. Forte, partial neutralization delivers glycolic acid (the AHA) in first- and second-phase penetrations (think “time released”) while raising the product pH level closer to the level of normal skin; this in turn reduces irritation while maximizing efficacy. The M.D. Forte line includes Cleansers (in AHA and non-AHA versions), Renewers (with AHA), Hydrators (without AHA) and Protectors (AHA-free sunscreens). M.D. Forte, made by Allergan—the company that also just happens to make Prevage and Botox—is available through physicians and also online.
