The Mary Kay Company Line
“Mary Kay was created from one woman’s desire to enrich women’s lives. After more than 40 years, it remains one of the most popular business opportunities for women around the world and features one of the most generous compensation plans and incentive awards programs in the direct selling industry. Today, Mary Kay is one of the largest direct sellers of quality skin care and color cosmetics in the world.”
The Bottom Line
Mary Kay founder, Mary Kay Ash, is no longer with us, but the ultimate Mary Kay Beauty Consultant reward, the pink Cadillac, still is. Unlike some other beauty houses, the Mary Kay portfolio has included both skin care and makeup since its inception. The Mary Kay Timewise line now includes what’s touted as an at-home alternative to microdermabrasion, as well as a Targeted-Action Line Reducer which claims to deliver immediate results to forehead lines and crow’s feet area lines and wrinkles.
Did You Know?
No fool for superstition, Mary Kay Ash opened Beauty by Mary Kay, as it was first called, in a small office in Dallas on what date? You bet—September 13, 1963—Friday the 13th! And in a nod to aesthetics, much of the Mary Kay line was in pink packaging. Why? Most American bathrooms were white so the packages could sit nicely on bathroom shelves.
