About Lorac

The story of Lorac begins with its creator's visit to a Beverly Hills salon for a makeover that was a graduation present from her aunt. It was the event that changed Carol Shaw's life--or so states the Lorac site. Lorac, which is "Carol" spelled backwards, began her career as a makeup artist working at a salon in L.A. and ultimately moved into the world of hi-fashion, famous photographers, and magazine covers. The Lorac line was developed in 1990 with a non-irritating, oil- and fragrance-free foundation that gave a natural look that was easy to use--both hallmarks of the line to this day. Today, the line has expanded to include the full-range of makeup products and Lorac touts itself as the "Red Carpet Authority" that's completely "plugged into the latest trends in Hollywood".
