Call it what you will, Crème de la Mer has become almost legendary. Even on the La Mer site, there are “Face Treatments”, “Body Treatments” and then there is…”The Crème”, as it almost requires no other introduction. The classic La Mer formula contains sea kelp, calcium, magnesium—to name a few—and touts not only moisturizing benefits but also skin that’s virtually creaseless, with fewer lines and visible pores. A friend gave me a jar of Creme de la Mer moisturizing cream in early December because she did not want to see me have the face lift I was thinking about. I am 65 with fewer wrinkles than most of my cohorts, but still looking tired. While I don't think that the cream has done miracles for my wrinkles -- they are still pretty visible -- what it has done is calm down the flakiness and dryness that nothing else fixed. It's expensive and I am working on my second 1 oz jar, but my skin is softer and seems almost moist -- qualities that disappeared years ago. Actually, I have only used the cream once a day for the past month or so and the results have stayed. I had previously been to a couple of dermatologists about the dryness, to no avail. The cream has been a life-saver.
