As the company website says, Kiehl’s Since 1851 has been a New York City insititution for over 150 years. And Kiehl’s packaging still gives a nod back to its old-age apothecary roots. Kiehl’s line now includes products for hair, suncare, baby, men—even pets. The Blue Herbal line includes a spot treatment with salicylic acid and “the blue stuff”—i.e., Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion—both of which claims to attend to troubled skin (ie, blemishes). Kiehl’s Abyssine line is a group of anti-aging formulas that promise to not only target fine lines but also provide protection against free radicals.
Kiehl’s Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion has been in existence for over 40 years. Introduced in 1964, Blue Astringent is one of the oldest formulations in the Kiehl’s line. Andy Warhol used to buy Blue Astringent in the 32 oz. size and was a regular in Kiehl’s downtown New York store, which is only blocks away from the site of Warhol's Greenwich Village "Factory."
