Jane Iredale’s love affair with minerals in makeup turned into a new business venture back in 1994 when Iredale launched her company, Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. According to the Jane Iredale website, Plastic Surgeons were the first to recognize the benefits of the line (particularly Jane Iredale Amazing Base) and were confident enough with it to use it on skin that had just undergone laser resurfacing. In addition to claims that mineral cosmetics enhance the health of skin and are suitable for sensitive skin, Jane Iredale Amazing Base—and all Iredale foundations—contain mineral-based sunscreens.

 

Jane Iredale started as a casting director working in television commercials with models like Lauren Hutton, Jaclyn Smith and Cybill Shepherd and then in film and television with actresses like Susan Sarandon, Glenn Close, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Among many others, she worked with Francis Coppola on The Outsiders, Steven Spielberg on The Color Purple.
