Darphin was founded in Paris in 1958 at a time when most beauty institutes had a specific focus: hair. Pierre Darphin felt there should be a beauty institute that took a more comprehensive approach to beauty and, therefore, would offer services for head-to-to beauty. The Darphin approach is based on a philosophy of outward beauty from "inner balance and harmony of the body, mind and soul" and as such, Darphin skin care recognizes not a single regimen-by-skin type system but one that reflects all the variables that can affect skin, and the evolving nature of skin's condition over time. Darphin presents this skin care approach as their "3-D Skin Care Program"--which focuses on 3 areas of care: Repair, Restore and Replenish. Darphin Repair formulas include Serums that promise to target conditions such as lack of firmness, uneven texture, signs of aging, and dehydration. Darphin Restore formulas tout "optimal blends of essential oils" to deliver aromatics to help balance skin. The Replenish formulas promise rehydration as well as protection from "external aggressors (sun, wind, pollution)".
