With its origins in plant-based formulations, Clarins became one of the first beauty companies to tout botanical or natural skin care. In fact, according to a Sephora interview with Christian Courtin-Clarins, son of Clarins’ founder, Jacques Courtin-Clarins, Clarins was the first company to use 100% pure plant extracts. The Clarins portfolio now includes not only a full line of skin & body care, but also makeup, fragrance, well-being and suncare lines. Clarins bestseller, Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch, which claims to smooth wrinkles and leave a flawless complexion for makeup application. Clarins also created a self-proclaimed “worldwide first” with its launch of Expertise 3P Screen Mist which claims to shield skin from the effects of artificial electromagnetic waves. Most recently seen in Allure, Clarins' new HydraQuench moisturizers, which tout the hydrating benefits of the Katafray tree, claim to take into account the "climate around your skin and your individual skin type" to provide optimal moisture.

Did you know?

You won’t find any machines at Clarins Skin Spa locations (“machines are banished”—so claims Clarins). In keeping with Clarins’ founder’s philosophy, spa treatments are “100% plants, 100% hands”.
