The Body Shop Company Line
“All our products are made with a love of life, respect for the world we live in, a spirit of individuality, and commitment to trading fairly…every woman has the right to feel fabulous, so we put our all into finding the highest quality natural ingredients, ethically and responsibly grown and bought, and turning them into innovative products, honestly marketed, and priced so that everyone can afford them.”

The Bottom Line
The Body Shop, founded in 1976 by Dame Anita Roddick, has grown into a well-known brand. The Body Shop still remains true to its origins by utilizing natural ingredients and by opposing animal testing. Along the way, The Body Shop and its founder also began to receive press for taking a stand on numerous issues in the realm of social activism. The Body Shop’s Wise Woman anti-aging line claims to regenerate and repair mature skin with ingredients like cocoa butter and 100% mineral sunscreens. The Body Shop was also one of the first beauty companies to tout the benefits of tea tree oil to address acne—there is now a complete Tea Tree line as well.

In 1997, The Body Shop launched a doll, “Ruby, a real doll representing real women”. The tagline for the Ruby marketing campaign was, “There are 3 billion women in the world who don’t look like supermodels and only 8 who do.”
