Re: St. Ives Swiss Formula Shampoo & Conditioners
(specifically the Pear & Vitamin E one, for dry fragile hair)
I've used several St. Ives products (as well as Tresemme & Alberto Culver items) over the years.
St. Ives Swiss Formula Shampoos and Conditioners, specifically the conditioner with PEAR and Vitamin E, for dry fragile hair, was one of the best finds in many years. I absolutely loved the way the product lived up to it's description and it made my medium/dark brown hair glow with goldish red highlights, as well as a beautiful shine. The fragrances of this product and all the other shampoos and conditioners in this line were fantastic.
Finding the product that worked so well, and then having it discontinued was such a disappointment! The refreshing fragrance and abundant lather made shampooing a pleasant experience. The product was simple, natural, and made the selection an easy one. I was a very pleased customer.
Wish St. Ives would bring these Swiss Formula products back. Is there anywhere I can find unsold product.
Can you recommend a specific Alberto Culver hair product that is closest to the Pear/Vit E combination of St. Ives?
Thank you.

Editor's note: A visit to the Alberto-Culver St. Ives site resulted in the following from the FAQ section:
Q. What happened to the St. Ives hair care products?
A. Unfortunately, all St Ives Shampoo's and Conditioner's were discontinued due to low consumer demand and are no longer available in our warehouses. However, we encourage you to try products by TRESemmé or V05 which may fit your needs.
Should you wish to find out more about the former St. Ives hair care line, or specific suitable replacement products that Alberto-Culver recommends, I suggest you contact the company directly at www.alberto.com.

I concur with customer, Judy Bishop, that St. Ives' Hair Products were among the best available, and at very affordable prices. As an African-American, with very dry ends, I found it to be the only product (not specifically marketed for my hair type) that actually worked a miracle on my frizzy ends with the first use. If you had surveyed me all those years ago, I would have begged you not to discontinue your hair care line. I haven't found anything to compare, and I am frantically searching. Is there any chance of bringing St. Ives hair products back to the market?
