Fighting wrinkles is possible through dietary and lifestyle modifications, as well as coupling these changes with more advanced technological procedures.
What are wrinkles
Wrinkles are the outward appearance of aging cells. Over time, cellular membranes become less fluid and flexible and eventually begin restricting the passage of nutrients into the cell and waste material out of the cell. The lack of movement across the cell wall leads to a decreasing number of antioxidants available to fight off a potent enemy of the body—the free radical. As free radicals accumulate in the cell and tissue space they wreak havoc on the proteins of the skin, weakening and destroying them, ultimately resulting in fine lines and wrinkles.
Natural wrinkle treatments
One of the most important things that can be done to fight wrinkles is to make several easy dietary changes. They are listed below:
- Increase the levels of antioxidants in the diet by eating a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables every day.
- Eat foods high in vitamin C, a natural antioxidant and also a precursor to healthy collagen, the presence of which helps prevent wrinkles.
- Slow down or completely eliminate alcohol and tobacco. They will greatly increase the appearance of wrinkles.
- Drink water. Lots of it!
- Topical moisturizers with SPF should be applied daily as well as choosing a moisturizer containing antioxidants from natural sources such as vitamin C, vitamin E, green tea extract, grape seed extract, and hyaluronic acid all of which have shown to help prevent or decrease wrinkles.
- Topical application of a serum hyaluronic acid to the face on a daily basis can also decrease wrinkle manifestation.
Keep in mind, as you fight the aging process that wrinkles, fine lines, crow's feet and laugh lines at some point will appear. We can't completely eliminate signs of aging—it is biologically natural for our bodies to mature. Take them as a sign of a good and full life, a sign of happiness. But keep up the battle!
