  FACELIFT SURGERY AND ITS GOALS
THE FACELIFT PROCEDURE is one of the best in plastic surgery when done properly.  To do a Facelift properly the surgeon must allow 4 to 6 hours depending on the complexity.   Many things must be considered and most of of the surgeon must determine why the patient looks older.  As we live our lives we look a little differnt in each decade.  Lets look at that.
What makes us look the way we look when 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, etc?   I would think we would all agree that in general we can place a good guess on  the age of most people.  We look the way we look in each decade because of:  wrinkles and other skin changes. gravity induced skin sag, gravity induced muscle sag, gravity induced fat sag, and often very significant fat atrophy (loss).    This is what a surgeon studies prior to surgery. So what to do.
Facial aging cannot be corrected with rinky dink 1 to 2 hour face lifts.   This is like using a band aid on a broken leg.Correction includes a real facelift 0f 4 to 6 hours that is often accompanied by real eyelid corrections of 2 to 3 hours, and fat transfers requiring another 1 to 2 hours. If needed a forehead endoscopic lift can be included.  Yes, a complete facelift requires time and surgical experience  of many years to do perfect.  This is expensive but one gets what one pays for as the old saying gos.
Corrective procedures include the surgical facelift, cheek, and neck lift, upper and lower eyelid lift, forehead frown lift, and transfer of fat and stem cells from other parts of the body.     Skin correction includes laser treatments, chemical peels, dermabrasion, and Retin A - Hydroquinone pharmacological treatment.  Sunscreen is critical of course.
Always be selective and choose only real plastic surgeons certified by the AMERICAN BOARD OF PLASTIC SURGERY who are also FELLOWS OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS.  LOOK FOR THE ABPS AND ESPECIALLY THE ....FACS.... BEHIND THE DOCTORS NAME.   THESE ARE REAL PLASTIC SURGEONS WITH FULL UNIVERSITY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION.
